External Funding Policy
To mitigate the risk inherent in obtaining external funding in pursuit of our vision, the following principles will guide AMEE’s funding arrangements
Mission and Public Benefit
AMEE raises funds for the fulfilment of its charitable and strategic objectives. AMEE’s mission is to promote international excellence in education in the healthcare professions across the continuum of undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education. AMEE, working with other organisations, supports teachers and institutions in their current educational activities and in the development of new approaches to curriculum planning, teaching and learning methods, assessment techniques and educational management, in response to advances in medicine, changes in healthcare delivery and patient demands and new educational thinking and techniques.
AMEE aims to avoid any financial obligation which would undermine or contravene the pursuit of its mission and the principles laid out in this document. Sponsorship or financial support of educational initiatives or events is not an indication of an endorsement of the past or present activities of the source of funding.
Independence and Objectivity
AMEE retains independent control over its educational outputs and events, irrespective of the source of funding.
Openness and Accountability
AMEE applies a culture of openness regarding sources of independent funding.
Protection of Vulnerable Groups
AMEE will make it explicitly known where the benefits are not afforded to the same groups who carry the risks.
