There are multiple formats available at the Ottawa conference for you to present your work and ideas through. Abstracts can relate to any aspect of assessment of health professionals and the evaluation of programmes across the continuum, from undergraduate through postgraduate education to continuing professional development. Submit your abstracts in the categories that you are interested in for the chance to take part.

How to Submit

Visit the submission portal to submit your abstracts, you will need to have registered an account first.

To submit your abstract: 
  • Click on the appropriate button on the left of the screen to start creating your abstract  - maximum 350 words for all types
  • Everyone listed must have an affiliation (institution, city, country), and each abstract must have a presenter
  • Select the ‘track’ that most appropriately fits your abstract. Refer to the downloadable pdf Abstract Tracks for more information on what each track or sub-track relates to
  • If submitting an oral presentation or ePoster you can choose your preferred format or select ‘either’ if you allow the organisers to decide
  • Choose if you want to present in Lyon in person, or if you wish to present remotely. For remote presentations, choose the region that best matches your own time zone. All presentations will be live, if your symposium, preconference workshop or conference workshop involves presenters from different regions, please the most appropriate region that suits your presenters’ time zones
  • Review the summary and click on submit. Your abstract will be available to edit up until the submission deadline

    You will receive an email confirming your submission and whether you have elected to present in Lyon or remotely. If you have not received the confirmation, please check your junkmail before contacting [email protected]
     
    All abstracts selected for presentation (except preconference workshops) will take place on Saturday 27 or Sunday 28 August.
    All presenters of accepted abstracts must register and pay to attend Ottawa 2022 either in Lyon for an in-person presentation, or for an online presentation.

    Formats and Deadlines:

    Preconference workshop – present in Lyon or online. Submission Deadline:  7 January 2022
    A 3-hour interactive ‘Masterclass’ session, intended to give practical tips on a topical issue in assessment or evaluation, and suggestions for implementation in participants’ own context. The level at which the workshop is set should be clearly indicated to allow participants to decide if it is appropriate for them. Free registration for the conference will be given to one presenter.

    Conference workshop –
    present in Lyon or online. Submission Deadline: 1 March 2022
    A 90 minute interactive workshop on an aspect of assessment or evaluation. The level at which the workshop is set should be clearly indicated to allow participants to decide if it is appropriate for them.
    Abstract format (350 words): title, background, who should participate, structure of workshop, intended outcomes, level of workshop, track selection
     
    Symposium –
    present in Lyon only. Submission Deadline: 7 January 2022
    A 90 minute session on a theme of topical interest or debate in assessment or evaluation. Presentations from panelists should take no more than 45 minutes, with the remaining time for discussion. There can be a maximum 5 panelists, one of whom should be moderator.
    Abstract format (350 words): title, background, why the topic is important, format including plans to engage participants, take-home messages, track selection
        
    Oral presentation -
    present in Lyon or online. Submission Deadline: 1 March 2022
    A 10 minute presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Up to 6 presentations will be grouped together in a themed session of 90 minutes.
    Abstract format (350 words):  title, background, summary of work, summary of results, discussion and conclusion, take-home messages, track selection
     
    ePoster -
    present in Lyon (some limited opportunities to present online). Submission Deadline: 1 March 2022
    A 3 minute introduction to the poster followed by 3 minutes for questions and discussion. Up to 15 presentations will be grouped together in a themed session of 90 minutes. All ePosters are hosted in the ePoster Showcase on the Kubify platform and can be viewed at any time by conference participants. Some ePosters will be selected for live presentation.
    Abstract format (350 words): title, background, summary of work, summary of results, discussion and conclusion, take-home messages, track selection
     
    Note: presenters may opt to be considered for oral presentation only, ePoster only, or either format, as space permits.
      
    Round Table Discussion –
    present in Lyon only. Submission Deadline: 1 March 2022
    An exploration of a specific topic of current interest in health professions assessment. The abstract submitter will be the presenter/chairperson and will introduce her/his perspective of the topic in 5 minutes and then invite others attending to contribute to the discussion that follows, to pool expertise. These are participatory sessions where all are expected to contribute.
