ESME (Essential Skills in Medical Education) is a high-quality online course for teachers in the healthcare professions. Based on the original 12-week course, ESME-flexi is a self-paced, introductory level course, aimed at those new to teaching, and at teachers with years of experience who would like to deepen their understanding of educational principles and practices. Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to draw on your own experiences as a teacher and a learner, and the assessment will focus on demonstrating that you understand how to apply the concepts and ideas presented in the course to your own practice.

Optional assessment: £50
To qualify for the full AMEE-ESME certificate, you will need to complete the optional assessment module. You can purchase this at the same time as your course or separately at a later date.

What's included?

Fees include 6 months access to interactive activities optimised for digital consumption in 'bite-sized' chunks, course resource materials including an electronic copy of Harden & Laidlaw’s ebook, ‘Essential Skills for a Medical Teacher: an introduction to teaching and learning in medicine’, rapid feedback on your knowledge and understanding of the key concepts via in-course tests and dedicated admin support for the duration of the course. You will be awarded a certificate of participation upon completion of all activities and you can choose whether to complete the optional end-of-course assignment to be awarded the AMEE-ESME Certificate in Medical Education - a fee of £50 is applicable for this optional extra. 

This is a self-directed course with an optional end-of-course assignment.

You will need to be logged in before you can register for this course. Please note that enrolment is currently a manual process and there may be a delay of up to 72 hours before you are able to access the course. 

Please note that you are purchasing an online course and the course fee is non-refundable.  If you purchase this course in error, we will refund the course fee minus a £25 administrative charge provided you notify us within 24 hours and have not yet accessed the course. The fee is non-refundable once you have accessed the online course.
