Safeguarding policy

AMEE is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals involved in its activities, including employees, volunteers, members and conference delegates.

This Safeguarding Policy outlines the principles and practices that AMEE will follow to prevent and respond to concerns related to the safeguarding of children (volunteers and delegates under the age of 18 years old).

Scope

This policy applies to all individuals associated with AMEE, including but not limited to employees, volunteers, members and others who may come into contact with children during the course of their work.

Principles

AMEE is committed to:

  1. Ensuring the welfare and safety of children
  2. Complying with all relevant laws and regulations related to safeguarding
  3. Fostering a culture that promotes open communication about safeguarding concerns
  4. Taking prompt and appropriate action in response to safeguarding concerns.

Definitions

For the purposes of this policy, the following definitions apply:

Child: A person under the age of 18

Responsibilities

AMEE is responsible for:

  1. Providing appropriate training on safeguarding to all relevant individuals
  2. Establishing clear reporting procedures for safeguarding concerns
  3. Conducting, through investigations through investigations into safeguarding concerns
  4. Taking appropriate disciplinary or corrective actions when necessary
    Reporting Concerns

Any individual associated with AMEE who has concerns about the welfare of a child must report those concerns to the Safeguarding Officer, who is Tracey Thomson, Head of Operations.

Reports can be made verbally or in writing and should include as much detail as possible about the nature of the concern.

Confidentiality

AMEE will handle all safeguarding concerns with sensitivity and will ensure that information is only shared on a need-to-know basis. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to disclose information to appropriate authorities for the protection of the individual(s) involved.

Review and Revision

This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed regularly and revised as necessary to ensure that it remains current and effective.
