Summary of theme and why it is important:  When do you know your team is made up of smart people?  When can we trust that our leadership is going to carry us through?  When do we know that instructional designers and teachers are going to be able to deliver the experience and the message?  These are questions we ask of our leaders, our teams and our designers.  The core skills needed today is connecting the dots and aligning all actions, processes and people with the overall goals and vision for a project, curriculum, product, team and or business line, besides being able to solve problems, create the most rewarding learner engagement, and meaningful experiences.  In today’s workplace we have several people who are both experienced and have the expertise, but many times are not able to connect the dots, inspire a vision, connect with people and help drive growth and development.  For leaders in education, learning and development and instructional design, and/or in any other business for that matter, the ability to be both strategic and tactical is key to identifying the right processes, the right people and create structures that enable teams and staff to be successful.  Business processes need to be simple and organizations nimble to be innovative and competitive. 
Who should participate in the Pre-Conference Workshop?  Those in leadership roles within organizations delivering education, those involved in human performance improvement and skills training, curriculum development and designers will benefit from this session.
