Beyond Change Management Models

Change is a constant in our medical schools, departments and residencies, yet it remains a major source of stress within many organizations. There exist many models to facilitate change management, including Kotter’s 8-step process, Lewin’s change management model and the McKinsey 7-S model. While these are excellent templates for the project management of change, they fail to address the personal characteristics and behaviors that leaders can practice to facilitate the change process. In this seminar, senior academics share seven tips for leadership behaviors that ease the change process, thus reducing stress for change leaders as well as for their teams.
