Summary of theme and why it is important:  Educational video is now! Anybody is using video tutorials privately to learn and understand difficult topics. It is now the perfect moment to transfer this powerful educational tool to your teaching environment. We, a team of expert educators (three filming medical specialists: Lukas J. Kandler, Robin Lundén and Daniel Salcedo), want to provide you with a workshop about the implementation and production of educational films.
What participants will gain:  You will learn about the theory and the scientific background and what makes videos such power tools for education. You will learn about planning, essential equipment as well as what you need for postproduction. We aim to provide with the basic knowledge on how to start your own video projects. If you have already some experience in filming, it is also a great opportunity to improve your skills. This workshop will also prepare you for the practical workshop Lights, Camera, Action! An experiential videography workshop for health professions education (Nr. 3616) which is held the following day.
Who should participate:  The workshop is open to health professions educators with or without previous experience in videography. Anybody who wants to implement educational videos or who needs to work with this educational instrument in the future.
Level of workshop:  Intermediate to advanced
