Fellowship and Associate Fellowship

Becoming a fellow of AMEE is the pinnacle of the membership journey, granting you the prestigious post-nominals FAMEE.

Associate Fellowship marks you out as an established professional in your field and on your way to achieving fellowship.

You are entitled to use the noted post-nominals AFAMEE.

We are dedicated to supporting those in healthcare professions education grow and develop within their careers, and to recognising those who already have significant achievements.

For those who have already reached the appropriate level through their professional standing and achievements, you can complete our application process.

Routes to Fellowship

To qualify for fellowship, you will be able to demonstrate that:

  1. You are and have been an active individual member of AMEE for the last five years.
  2. You hold qualifications at least at Master’s level (or equivalent) in an academic field related to Health Professions Education, or hold current registration as a Health Professional.
  3. You have made major regular contributions to AMEE in the last five years.
  4. You have made a consistent, continuing contribution to scholarship in health professions education over at least five years.
  5. You have provided leadership in the field of health professions education.

Accompanying documentation

  • Evidence of qualifications or details of a sustained programme of scholarship – these can be PDFs or scans of documents. Please ensure the documents are in English and officially signed if translated.
  • CV – Maximum 6 sides of A4 with a focus on educational leadership and scholarship activities.
  • Two letters of support – ideally these will have an official letterhead and be signed by Head of Department, Dean, Supervisor or a Senior Colleague. The format can be a scan, a PDF or a word document.

To qualify for associate fellowship, you will be able to demonstrate that:

  1. You are a current active individual member of AMEE.
  2. You hold qualifications at least at Bachelor’s level in an academic field related to Health Professions Education, or have current registration as a Health Professional.
  3. During the last five years, you have actively contributed to AMEE, and/or have published a scholarly article as first or lead author or have delivered at least one other presentation as first or lead author, at an AMEE conference or other international Health Professions Education conference.
  4. Or you have completed the ESME Specialist certificate and meet the above criteria.
