Types of membership
As an individual member of AMEE you are part of a community of professionals that stretches around the world as well as providing you with many tangible benefits.
From students to those who have retired, we have a membership type to suit everyone, wherever you are in your career, whatever your career pathway, whichever discipline you are in and however you are involved in healthcare professions education.
Student Member
You are studying towards a primary healthcare qualification.
You are interested in healthcare education and want to find out more about it.
You want to connect with other people at the same stage as you, and with those further on in their careers, and are interested in accessing training and resources that will help you to broaden your experience and evaluate all your options.
You may be a medical, dental, veterinary, nursing, allied health etc. student in university, studying your first health professional degree.
You may also be someone in university studying for your first health professional degree with an interest in going down an academic, research or other route into healthcare education.
Please note that Student membership does not include access to Medical Teacher.

Early Career Member
You are in the earliest stages of your career in healthcare education. You could be studying for an advanced degree in a related field such as a Masters or PhD, or a core trainee within healthcare, aiming to become an educator as part of your clinical practice.
You want to connect with other people at the same stage as you, and with those further on in their careers and are interested in accessing training and resources that will help you develop as a professional within healthcare education.
You may be a student pursuing their second degree to specialise in one of the many disciplines linked to healthcare education, or you could be a clinician who has graduated from their first degree and entered training.

Full Member
This category grants you the right to use the post-nominals MAMEE
You are professional working in healthcare education. You may be an academic, a scientist, a researcher or a clinician and you are committed to the development and advancement of healthcare education.
You want to connect with other people at the same stage as you, others further on in their careers, and those who are just starting out. You are building your professional reputation, expertise and experience and want to access training and resources that will help you do this.
You want to be part of the healthcare education community contributing to it and drawing from it. You are keen to share the experiences and insights of colleagues around the globe, working to improve and develop healthcare education.
You may be an academic or researcher specialising in healthcare education, or a clinician with a special interest in education.

Associate Fellow
This category grants you the right to use the post-nominals AFAMEE
You are an established professional working in healthcare education.
You may be an academic, a scientist, a researcher, an experienced clinical educator, or equivalent. You are a leader and ready to embark on your leadership journey within the healthcare education community.
You are still eager to access, and contribute to, training and resources to help your career and that of others, and you want to start giving back to your community and membership organisation by getting more involved in its work, and by marking your commitment by accessing the next stage of membership.
You may be an academic or researcher specialising in healthcare education, or a clinician fully qualified within your specialty.

Fellow
This category grants you the right to use the post-nominals FAMEE
You are an established, recognised and respected professional and leader. You have excelled in your field and you now want to give back to your community and membership organisation. You recognise that, as you advanced in your career, you gained much from your own mentors, senior colleagues, and Fellows, and now want to use your experience and expertise to fulfil the same role for others in your membership community.
You are committed and dedicated and recognise the unique role you can play at AMEE and in the wider community. You also recognise that Fellowship of AMEE is a tangible demonstration of everything you have achieved and marks you out as a leader in your field.
You are a role model and, through Fellowship, actively embody the professional level that our Members can aspire to become.

Annual membership plan fee £165 (Resource constrained £60)
Retired Member or Fellow
Though no longer in paid employment, you are still active in your professional community.
You have held Fellowship for a number of years and know that you still have much to give and are keen to continue to play an active role putting your experience and expertise to continued good use.
You know the importance of demonstrating your commitment to your professional community by maintaining a connection to your membership organisation.
This membership does not include access to Medical Teacher.

Life Membership
You are a retired member or fellow who is now seeking to play a less active role but who still wishes to be part of your professional community and membership organisation.
You want the peace of mind of knowing that your membership will continue each year and you will remain part of the AMEE community.
This membership does not include access to Medical Teacher.
