From Student to Fellowship: Growing with AMEE

Delegates of the AMEE Conference 2024 in Basel

Joining AMEE as a student can be the first step in a long-term professional journey. Read Stella’s story on how her AMEE membership developed along with her career stage.

From Student Task Force to AMEE Fellowship

Stella Goeschl is a recent graduate medical doctor currently pursuing a masters in Public Health.

Stella first became involved with AMEE as a member of the Student Task Force (STF) at the 2019 conference in Vienna.

Through the Student Task Force (STF), she connected with peers who shared a strong interest in health professions education.

This early involvement encouraged her to explore research and scholarship in the field and to remain actively engaged with AMEE in the years that followed.

As her career progressed, so did her participation with AMEE. She later coordinated the Student Task Force, supporting other students as they began their own involvement with AMEE.

More recently, she became an Associate Fellow, continuing to build connections with AMEE members, peers, and professionals from around the world.

AMEE Committees and beyond

Stella joined the AMEE Technology Enhanced Learning Panel in 2024 and has remained on the panel since, having also submitted an accepted Pre-Conference Workshop with senior colleagues from the panel for AMEE 2026.

This year Stella is also on the AMEE 2026 AI/TEL Programme Committee.

Stella also joined the AMEE ASPIRE Panel for Inspirational and Innovative Approaches (I&I) to HPE in her capacity as Medical Education Liaison Officer in EMSA.

She has been involved in three rounds of ASPIRE award submissions, two conference workshops with the ASPIRE I&I team and contributed to the publication from the I&I panel.

As well as this, Stella has been active as a reviewer for Medical Teacher as well as MedEdPublish and has also reviewed abstracts for AMEE.
