Professor Marco Antonio de Carvalho-Filho is a full professor of Health Profession Education Research at the University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands. He is passionate about medical education in general and active methodologies in particular and is deeply influenced by Critical Pedagogy and The Theatre of the Oppressed. This passion led Marco to a career change in the last 15 years when he focused on the design of innovative approaches to empower students as agents of change, including MEET (Medical Education Empowered by Theatre), CCPS (Co-constructive Patient Simulation), and All You Need is Music. Marco is active in faculty development, especially in fostering communities of practice of innovative teachers. His research interests are focused on professional identity development, clinical reasoning, and arts in health professional education.
Professor Diana HJM Dolmans is a full professor of educational sciences within the field of health professions education innovation and research.
She is the chair of the Department of Educational Development and Research at the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
She is also affiliated with the School of Health Professions Education (SHE) at Maastricht University, with a special interest in research on faculty development.
Professor Ardi Findyartini, MD Ph.D., is a medical doctor and Professor in Medical Education from Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia.
She is currently the Head of Medical Education Unit and the Coordinator of Medical Education Cluster at Indonesia Medical Education and Research Institute (IMERI) at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia.
She has been teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in medical education. She is a member of AMEE Faculty Development committee, and the current chair of ASPIRE excellence in faculty development panel.
She authored and co-authored many international publications in peer reviewed journals, book chapters and conferences.
She’s also been involved as the editorial team and reviewer of national and international medical education journals. Her research area of interest includes faculty development, professionalism, clinical reasoning and clinical teaching, interprofessional education, curriculum development, and socio-cultural factors underpinning approaches in medical and health professions education.
Professor Yvonne Steinert, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and Professor of Family Medicine and Health Sciences Education, is the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Chair in Medical Education and the former Director of the Institute of Health Sciences Education in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University.
She is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, educational research, and the design and delivery of faculty development programs and activities.
Her research interests focus on teaching and learning in the health professions, the impact of faculty development on the individual and the organization, professionalism and professional identity formation, and the interplay between culture and health professions education.
The founding co-chair of the International Conference on Faculty Development in the Health Professions and the inaugural chair of the AMEE International Faculty Development Committee, she has written extensively on topics related to faculty development and medical education.
She was also named to the Order of Canada in 2018 in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of pedagogical principles, faculty development, and new training approaches in medical education.
